Couples
I attended this club with Jo
one Wednesday night in June 2001.
I am afraid I was disappointed
with the club, although people had told me that it was a single
room below a restaurant with poor decor and disgusting toilets,
I thought that they had maybe gone on a bad evening and
exaggerated the downsides.
The club is a single large
room with thin cheap carpeting and wooden dance floor area.
There are no comfortable areas to play. Carpet burns are a
guaranteed extra should you decide to play here.
Jo and I sat drinking watching
some strippers, when our bum's were numb from the thinly padded
benches we decided to move to the alcove - mistake. Every single
guy in the place thought we were going to start playing, and
formed a circle around us wanking.
We drank up quickly and
departed.
We are not against single guys
at all, in fact Jo had a fantastic time fucking and sucking some
14 guys at Chameleons, but this place was depressingly seedy and
made no effort to provide comfortable areas for people to play.
Oh yes - The toilets were
disgusting - no toilet paper, no soap and no towels, and so
smelly you need to hold your breath from the moment you open the
door.
Sorry guys - This is one place
I will give a very wide berth to.

We attended the club on Saturday 10 March
while staying in London on a long weekend. We arrived at the
club about 23.00hrs and there were about 20 couples already
there. The club has a night club feel about it, loud disco
music that made it difficult to talk to anyone, yet alone
your partner but this did not seem to inhibit anyone, people
seemed happy to dance and the club filled up very quickly
and by around 00.15hrs we would say that it could not have
been far short of full capacity of 75 couples. there was a
spell of slower music which had the floor packed with much
groping and
friendships quickly being made, this was quickly transferred
to the back room where it was standing room only. The fact
that there was no entrance charge, the drinks were set at a
more than acceptable price, and there was plenty of
swinging, it has to be said THANK YOU Brian and your team
for an excellent evenings entertainment, and we look forward
to returning.

We've been going here for about 5 years. We've
been to a number of other clubs in the UK and Europe, but have
never had as good a time anywhere else as we have here.
It is certainly true that the place looks like
a dump. Especially if you arrive before 11pm and its empty. But
as it fills up and your second drink slips down the partying
starts and its a great swing scene. The people are really nice,
respectful and all out for fun.
We've been to far cleaner, larger and more
expensive places, but we've never been back to any of them a
second time, but go here regularly.
We went once on a Friday, which is not a
couples day, and would not go back again on another Friday.

Well what can be said about this club has
mostly been said, its a bit like taking a time travel trip back
to the 70s the place is a bit of a seedy dive couldnt really
recommend it and certainly wouldnt want to make arrangements to
meet a couple there with so many good clubs in and around
London.

The club has a friendly atmosphere & is very
reasonably priced, even if you only fancy a late drink. Far from
decrepit troglodytes you get some very attractive people there,
& I wasn't aware that wealth was a pre-requisite for erotic fun.
Maybe no-one fancied slinky susie especially if she tried to
impress people with her knowledge of Heironymous Bosch. The
place could do with a springclean but you get what you pay for &
we have had some excellent value for money in all respects.

I think of the Couples Club as the Wheel
Tappers and Shunters club of sex. It encapsulates most of the
typical horrors of the British swinging scene. It’s like a
workingmen’s club where the sort of people who go to
workingmen’s clubs have sex.
When I went the bouncer was a rude and
aggressive little white shit with a small cock who threatened my
boyfriend and demanded more “respect”. To be fair the other
entrance staff were nice and the barman was very informed and
friendly. It wasn’t expensive either.
The premises were a fetid basement under a
tapas bar in Harringay. The walls were 70s artex (where the
plaster hasn't come away). The seats were sticky. The loo was
cramped, unplastered and stinking. Crass porn played on a TV.
The “DJ” had a vast beer gut partly covered by a stained white
vest. The groove was a discordant disgrace – the “DJ” was too
stupid to know he should play similar sounds together to create
moods.
The clientele was neither affluent not young.
In fact it was old and shabby to the point of grotesque. However
as with almost everywhere there were some attractive young
couples like nuggests of gold in a cesspit.
The club is only one room and there’s an
alcove where the decrepit troglodytes rut on the banquette. It
gets packed, hot, airless, sweaty and not very fragrant. If
you've ever seen The Triumph of Death by Heironymous Bosch,
you'll get the picture. Of the maybe 10 premises clubs in and
around London, for clientele and premises this is perhaps the
very worst.

Well, this was the first club my wife and I
tried when we entered onto the Swing Scene, and we had mixed
feeling about our first visit. When we arrived at about 21:15 we
were only the 2nd coupple there and felt very nervous. At first
glance the club appears a little dark and perhaps seedy but its
not realy that bad and anyway you dont go there for the decor! As
time passed the club filled with a good mix of couples and after
a few (Fairly cheap) drinks there were plenty of people willing
to play! My wife and I have visited the club on several
occasions (All Saturdays) since and each time have enjoyed
ourselves (and others!) in a very friendly atmosphere. But I
will have to agree with one of the other reviews that the
toilets could be better.
